Akbaruddin Owaisi has been elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Chandrayangutta constituency on four consecutive occasions, in 1999, 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2018. He served as a deputy to his elder brother Asaduddin Owaisi.

Akbaruddin Owaisi is the managing director of Owaisi hospital, which was set up by his late father Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi for the welfare of the Muslims.Also Akbaruddin Owaisi is the chief of advisory Board of the Darusslam Co-operative Urban Bank Ltd.
